[It's amazing how relaxing it can feel after something like this. At least for now, for this brief moment, he can enjoy the warmth of a familiar body against his own. The fingers that slide through his hair have him melting against the mattress, reveling in the hot puffs of breath against his chest with Hythlodaeus tucked so close to him. He decides to return the gesture in kind, his own fingers fiddling with the soft pretty strands he'd made loose just for him.
Of course this feeling of contentment would end. Hythlodaeus would inevitably have to get up to leave him to his own devices again. He doesn't want to think about that right now however.]
[He enjoys it as Hermes toys with his hair, smiling into his skin. It's not just about quota anymore, he realises. He genuinely enjoys being with the other man, likes to see him content and smiling.]
I enjoy our time together, truly.
[He murmurs it softly, moving his hand to rub at Hermes' back instead.]
Don't you?
[He thinks he already knows the answer, but he wants to hear it all the same.]
[Perhaps a bit more than he should allow himself too. Everything had happened so fast since he arrived that he was still reeling, both from Duplicity itself but also the heavy knowledge he'd received not long ago. Having Hythlodaeus here to hold in his arms was, as Emet-Selch had put it, nothing short of a miracle. Having either of them by his side was.
But there was enjoying someone's company and then there was imposing and he's afraid to do the latter. He can't begin to pretend (nor would he want to) that he's remotely as close to Hythlodaeus as Emet-Selch is - he's not. His place had been made very aware to him which...was okay. It was just how things were.
The only disappointing thing about spending time with Hythlodaeus was that, eventually, he had to leave. He had someone and somewhere to go back to. Hermes didn't.]
[All good things come to an end. It's just the nature of life and something Hermes has come to accept over the years. Even so it doesn't mean he's free of feeling disappointment or sadness when said end arrives. He knows that Hythlodaeus is going to get up and leave eventually...and he does, the sigh signaling his departure that it's soon to come.]
...Ah, of course.
[Can't keep his love waiting. He gets it, really, he does. Bodies untangled he shifts awkwardly on the mattress, not too keen on lying down anymore. Instead he moves to stand, disturbing Caduceus with a quiet apology as he settles the serpent around his neck, pulling his robs on quickly over himself. Being nude is uncomfortable if he doesn't have to be.]
I promise not to finish it alone. [Which is probably a good thing since he absolutely would've.] ...Shall I see you out?
[He heads back into the main room to fetch his clothes, pulling them on languidly. He's not in much of a hurry. It isn't that he doesn't want to go back to Emet-Selch, but he sees that Hermes is disappointed and he hates to leave him alone like this.]
Please do.
[Finally tugging his shoes on, he realises his hair is still down and quickly plaits it and ties it up.]
Do I have any marks on my neck..? Emet-Selch will be wroth with us both if I come home wearing them.
[He only left them because he'd been encouraged to. It's a bit unfair, he thinks, that he's been asked to keep the ones Hythlodaeus left on him but it cannot be mutual. Even so, that's just how things are.]
Hold still for a moment, please.
[A hand comes up to hover over his neck, palm glowing green as he casts cure, the marks disappearing after a few seconds.]
There. [He smiles softly, dropping his hand back down to his hip.] As good as new.
[The soft kiss makes it all the more painful, even though Hermes is well aware that isn't the intention. He keeps the small smile on his lips, even though there's a loneliness reflected in those bright eyes of his.]
Of course.
[Maybe he'll go back to drawing sharks for the rest of the night, just for the sake of it.]

The hour is late... Emet-Selch will wonder where I've gotten to.
[And he doesn't want Hades to get angry at Hermes when it was Hythlodaeus' idea to come here in the first place.]
Keep the wine... we can finish it soon enough, together.
[He's absolutely coming back, of course. And perhaps they will even finish the wine before Hythlodaeus jumps him, next time.]

My thanks.
[He takes Hermes' hand, squeezes it, before letting go and heading to the door where he waits for Hermes to see him off.]
I will see you soon.
